Spending two nights in Etendeka camp will give you the chance to visit this wonderful land from a different prospective. Contact with nature with friendly and professional assistance. Good family style dinners.
Excellent camp with great host Dennis. A very personal experience were Dennis and staff have the ability to bring people together in a great atmosphere.Superb!
Absolutely loved this although tents not as comfortable as Mundulea. Walking and drives excellent.
This place we selected when other choices were not available. With some trepidation, we weren't sure if we should have selected a tent camp. Boy, were we thrilled to find it was our most favorite place in Namibia! The two-hour game drive up to the Camp was bumpy and fun. Bonny was our guide for two days and he was one of the most knowledgeable people we met. And what a kind, interesting person too. The tents were fabulous: lovely privacy and view, nice breezes, excellent outdoor shower, and plenty of warm blankets. The meals, family style, were excellent and we enjoyed the comraderie with people from several countries. Bonny and Heidi, the relief manager, joined us for meals, which was nice touch. Bonny shared his language too. Heidi was terrific and helped us plan our trip to Swapkopmund and Walvis Bay. This would not be a good place for a single night--we met someone who did and they regretted it. I could have enjoyed 3 nights even. Loved the morning walk, learning a lot about plants and geology and water. In the afternoon, we took a sundowner game drive which was fun. Not a ton a of animals but learned a lot about animal habits. We were shocked to find everything was included, even wine. This is a place not to miss!
Great isolation with all the comforts of modern living - lovely
Great place, one of our favourites in Namibia. Not prolific in game and a lot less than last year due to lack of good rains in the region. You get to learn a lot more about tracking and plants and other really interesting things on the walks here than maybe you would elsewhere.
Highlight of the holiday! Cant fault it. 5* plus for overall experience etc
My favorite of all the places I stayed in Namibia. It was the most rustic of all the lodges I stayed at but very comfortable. Dennis, who runs the place, was an extraordinarily gracious and personable host. We saw a lot of wildlife on the sundowners and I also enjoyed Dennis' astronomy lessons.
One of our favourites! Dennis gave us a tour of the night sky and let all of the guests look through his telescope; memorable.
Very friendly ! Fantastic place ! Very good meal. Just one thing for the meeeting point for the arrival : you need to tell us where it is because nobody was there on the beginning of the road and we don\'t know where we leave the car. Easily, we can wait and park the car at Palmwag lodge where Rangers wait for us.
A bit of a trek to get to this place (you have to leave your car and undergo a very bumpy and uncomfortable 4 wheel drive trip) but absolutely fantastic. Right out in the middle of nowhere - so, worth the uncomfortable ride after all! Wonderful room and bush shower. Superb and very informative guide who stood up and announced each course during the meal in Damara language, clicking and all, followed by translation into English (lovely touch, we thought. Good, tasty basic food and plenty of it. All the guests and guides sat together at a big table and there was a homely atmosphere. Stunning night sky with all the lights turned off (hurray!) and a star gazing session on our second evening. Can`t recommend this place highly enough.
Unique destination. Unfortunately the morning walk is very short (3km)
Fabulous setting and a great place to relax. Great change in pace between etosha and sossusvlei Walk to the sunset point is a must. Dennis and bonnie are great hosts. Highly recommended.
Beautiful, very cold in the night
Bonnie is a star!
Amazing scenery! Beautiful location! We felt right at home, everyone was so friendly. We loved the drives and walks we did here.
Thankfully we stayed 3 nights at this wonderful, authentic, lodge. Each lodge we visited in Namibia has its own unique atmosphere- at Etendeka it`s a true wilderness experience, but one is made to feel one of the family with Denis and Ivan taking all meals with their guests. One feels that the food is what Denis likes to eat, and it makes a wonderful change from the game steaks which feature heavily on most lodge menus. Chicken roasted on an open fire, steak and kidney pie went down very well. The tents were very comfortable, and the bucket showers a revelation- please Denis, never be tempted to change this- what you are offering is not a 5 star hotel experience, but rather a unique and extremely comfortable wilderness experience, and the showers are part of that. Of course it always helps when within 15 minutes of driving onto the concession one finds oneself sitting yards away from a pride of 9 lions- and the fact that we didn`t see them on subsequent drives simply highlights how wonderful that was. The crystal mountain walk was a true highlight of our trip, as was the evening we spent observing the night sky with Denis` help- the moons of Jupiter was a first, and of course the lions, not forgetting the kudu bulls- thanks Ivan. Etendeka sits comfortably with Wolwedans as the two places we enjoyed most on a trip of wonderful places.
Loved this place! If you were to stay fewer than 3 nights, you might feel you were missing out. We appreciated the morning hikes for being able to walk in the wild, while observing wildlife and learning about the region from the knowledgeable guide, Ivan. There were several hours to relax and enjoy the camp each day. Afternoon game drives were spectacular - tons of wildlife! Every meal was delicious.
Enjoyed this experience. Outstanding scenery and guiding. Very special and highly recommended
an outstanding experience unmissable.- bucket shower worked fine! The guide really was first class. A real highlight of the trip and we are supportive of their ideals--there are significan challenges to have minimum impact at such a distance from civilisation!Seeing Jupiter and its moons was a bonus - using peter`s scope as was all the wildlife .
Our new favorite place. The hospitality, food, accommodations and activities can't be beat. Upscale without being pretentious. Gourmet campfire food is not an oxymoron!
really original and very nice
9/10 really a beatiful experience!
Excellent and a wounderful experience. we were made very welcome, place was clean, facilities were fine, food was basic an very good. The walks and game drive was well conducted and guide very informative. would be very happy to return and stay longer next time - only negative comment would be that his toilet system is starting to smell a bit, and he could have been more generous with the fire wood.
