Not very special. OK for a stop over. We were advised not to drive through Etosha from Ongave to Hobatere, but we should have done that as the road via Kamanjab is very boring.

We definitely loved Hobatere Lodge which remains one of our favourites! The staff there was very nice and welcoming! We spend an amazing time with them and with our guide Albert! Besides, the place is wild and wonderful! It is a must.

Fabulous lodge in amazing setting. The 3 rondawels are lovely chalets set apart and very comfortable. Food is excellent and the staff are outstanding. Possibly our favourite lodge. Highly recommend

Lovely lodge. Great staff.

Raphael,deborah - 13th Apr, 2017

Hobatere was a lodge with more "charm", they need more work and love(commitment and knowledge). May be they need talk with the old workers about the secrets of the Hobatere. We don't like this Hobatere, sorry. we give 2 stars!

Costa, Carlos - 07th Jan, 2017

You could make more of the fact that this lodge is managed and run by local people. Because of this we found it particularly charming. The staff were so keen and cheerful and again we felt that we were helping local people make a go of a sustainable business. The location of the little water hole so close to the lodge was a bonus. And the night drive was excellent - again very knowledgable staff

Cromarty, Niel - 07th Nov, 2016

Haquette, Clara - 01st Aug, 2016

Lovely lodge. More that we expected. Great food and setting. Would have been worthwhile to spend two nights here to really enjoy the place. We only spent one night there.

Mckee, Pat - 06th Jul, 2016

Hobatere Lodge was fine - wonderful people, rooms were basic but quite adequate - I wondered why we had been booked here so close to Etosha because at Hobatere being a 'small reserve' our game viewing was quite limited and when we got to Etosha the difference was quite marked. If I were to change our program I would have spent the Hobatere night instead at Dolomite - 1 night at Okaukuejo and 2 nights at Halali. But we were satisfied and we saw and enjoyed a hell of a lot - you did a great job for us, thank you!

Duys, Henk - 14th May, 2016

Nice lodge but real shame waterhole is not viewable from either lodge or hide

Our favorite, very good atmosphere and excellent game drive. That was Anita's suggestion and we thank her for that

Mouradian, Pierre - 05th Sep, 2015

Hobatere lodge was probably the best place we stayed at (albeit expensive - we got two triple rooms for the four of us, whereas one room with a spare bed would have been sufficient, as they're quite spacious). As in Grootberg lodge, all staff is very enthusiastic, helpful and friendly. They do their utmost to make it as enjoyable as possible (e.g. pointing us to a porcupine and genet cat nearby, camp fire outside). Main lobby area is very spaceous and light, with big windows for amazing views. The waterhole is great and as crowded as the best places in Etosha. Best memory is probably looking at the lions at the waterhole (with binoculars) while having breakfast at the lodge. We did a game drive in the afternoon. Animals are quite shy, so it's difficult to get close-up pics. After the sundowner, we managed to see the lions at the waterhole. Great food. Again dancing after dinner (as in Grootberg lodge), but somehow it felt more artificial, and anyway we were more interested in the wildlife outside.

Loved it. The owner and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was really great. It was very large and very well appointed. A great place to stay.

Tusing, Jeff - 30th Jul, 2009

this was good. The treehouse is very rustic which we were expecting. The staff at Hobatare were again very helpful and friendly. We were able to leave our luggage in a room there and used it in the morning to have a shower.
