Incredible staff and good facilities.
Very beautiful lodge and incredible staff, so keen of advises and kindness. Great time there at desert camp
Very comfortable "tent" lodging with ensuite large bathroom. Excellent meals at the nearby Sossusvlei Lodge. Nice pool area and bar.
Very comfortable and neat - nice to rent the kitchen box and braai for a change! We bought a few things in Solitaire but also found the Sesriem store at the garage very useful.
A great experience in middle of the desert. All staff is very nice and we can use internet on bar.
Really nice facilities - great for something different
We loved it, although it was a bit of a drive to get to breakfast!
Not a good sleeping option for two kids, very little space in the tent.
Amazing, fantastic location so close to entrance of Sousslevi gate and surrounded by mountains and sand dunes. Meant we could get into the park early and get to climb Big Daddy! Being close meant we could return for a break during the day. Very friendly and helpful staff and BBQ food was brilliant. Sunrise from the verandah!
Could be a bit hot at certain times of the year, but a beautiful place.
Nice place, clean and well situated.Good value for money.
We really enjoyed Desert Camp and our stay here was one of the highlights of our trip. The quiet location was wonderful and we loved having our own braai and cooking our own food without having to pack it all up and bring with us. The staff there were very efficient and friendly.
This was one of our absolute favorite stays during our trip to Namibia. The tents and setting were terrific. Gemsboks came so close to the tent at sunrise and sunset. The staff were very friendly and Desert Camp has a very special flair which had everything we were hoping for. The evening meals outdoors Sossusvlei Lodge were unforgettable and very reasonable considering the abundance offered.
PERFECT ! I love the lodge and the country around the lodge !!! Very beautiful
Very nice place only missed ac as it was up in the 40's in the afternoons. Sossusvlei is not worth more than 2 nights. B&D at Sossusvlei Lodge 5 km up the road.
very cute and friendly staff. comfortable stay. great location. self bbq was the best
Outstanding location and camp - my wife was a bit hesitant when she saw the Camp but after 30 minutes loved it. Right out there under canvas and view over desert - spectacular. Could order food from Lodge and it was delivered in time for evening braai - dinner/braai under the stars was outstanding. Took the Lodge tour into Sossusvlei - well done and saved a lot of driving. Dinner at the Lodge was spectacular (so romantic said my wife) - great buffet under the stars.
Very nice and very good accommodation.
Weren't expecting to stay here as we had our own camping stuff but it was a nice night of unexpected luxury for us! Tented cabins lovely and really large. Comprehensive list of food to order to cook with. Nice pool and bar area. Resident oryx who was apparently nicknamed Felix. Nice walk up rocks opposite.
Good value for money, exactly what we expected. We took our meals at the Sossusvlei Lodge and they were excellent. We especially liked the location of the Desert Camp, just 5 minutes to the national park.
Excellent, good location, clean and comfortable. Friendly staff and great service re braai supplies for evening meal. Beautiful location.
cool little place
Was a very lovely place. We really enjoyed being able to have our own braai. Pleasant helpful staff, despite the fact that they all had "trainee" badges on!
We like the camp, child friendly
Absolutely great - really enjoyed it here. Beautiful location. If we ever go again, we would definitely stay here again. Whilst we didn't get the opportunity to use the restaurant at the main camp we met a few people who couldn't praise the buffet dinners enough - definitely worth returning to try these for ourselves!
Nice, but could use aircon.
Our favourite place, excellent tents with unbelievable views and great service.
We really enjoyed our night here - the braai was really good value. If you don`t want to be disturbed by the early leavers for Sossusvlei then book a tent furthest away from the entrance - we had number 1 and didn`t hear anyone leaving.
Fantastic, wonderful location and facilities, very helpful staff
Great fun doing our Braai each night, good location for the dunes
Stunning accomodation in the middle of desert. Heard Kudus around the place at night.
The best ever service and friendly staff the best
We loved Desert Camp. After eating out so much, it was fun to cook on our own. We brought our own beer and wine, made our own salads, potatoes, etc., but ordered the Braai from the lodge which was delivered to the `tent`. A mess-kit is rentable from them. Firewood must be purchased as well as fire-starter and matches (for us non-smokers). One thing we learned about Sossusvlei is that if you stay outside the gates as we did, you will pretty much miss the best light of morning and best light of evening for photography. Even getting up early and lining up at the gate, by the time we got out to the dunes we had lost the light. In the evening we drove out on the main road, and got some nice shots, but then raced back to get out by closing.
Wonderful location, magnificent panorama, very nice tent. Just five km driving you can get dinner and breakfast in Soussusvlei Lodge. Gorgeous buffet very recommended.
Sossusvlei Desert Camp was excellent, but the pool was tiny and with four other people in there it was too small to get in to cool off as the maximum guests in the camp could be 60 this is an issue. I ended up having a cold shower in my swimsuit and sitting outside in the shade to cool down a bit. As the temperature was over 40 degrees it was a bit uncomfortable and the fan in the room only moved the hot air around, so we left after the second night and went up to Walvis Bay and paid extra for a night there. We were able to do Dune 45 and the pan easily in one day.
Our second favourite accomodation. Good value braai food can be bought from the Camp as it was a lot cheaper than the service station. Really liked Desert Lodge
perfect...would have liked to learn there`s a lodge with different type of accomodation linked to Desert Camp, with no need to drive for breakfast and dinner. Amazing locations and accomodation anyway, really enjoyed it.
Very nice chalet with excellent options for dinner packs delivered to your doorstep.
wow, really in the middle of nowhere
Very good experience in desert
Very good location.
Beautiful and well-situated camp. As it was self-catering, they had all the material (incl BBQ and wood) and utensils at disposal. As everywhere in the desert, the pool is freezing!
lodging very nice.
We enjoyed this experience and found it comfortable. Wonderful views at sunset. All the items specified on the list for the kitchen were not in the box but when we drew their attention to it it was rectified without a problem
Always superb !
Good camp with nice view close to the park entrance. Heavy and spacious tents, small pool with bar, excellent choice of food, e.g. game, at the neighboring lodge if you choose to have breakfast and dinner there.
Unique and very comfortable although we hit a hot spell and the tent was a bit hot until late at night. The dinners(which initially we didn't know were included in our booking) at the Sossusvlei Lodge were outstanding...best food we had in Namibia.
What a treat this stop over was. Great location, well cared for. A must stay if you are visiting the Sesriem area. The view from your tented chalet is awesome.
Would have preferred Sossuvlei Lodge if not self-catering .. otherwise location was perfect
This is a very basic camp for food but was surprisingly luxurious otherwise.
We were very impressed as to the high standards at the Desert Camp, all the Staff were very friendly and helpful,we had the feeling that we were welcome here, the quality of the food at the Sossusvlei Lodge was excellent, and we left with a tear in our eyes.
Very nice place and location. The staff was really nice
Fantastic stay in nice lodge with view
Lovely luxury tents, we had the bad luck that there was lots of wind and we did`'t sleep so well, best breakfast that we had, self catering is good but the rent for the cooking set was expensive we thought!
Very good accommodation, helpfull staff, amazing view!
Unique set up with outstanding views of the desert and the mountains. It is luxury rustic. Not quite tent camping, but not a motel. There is a resturant at the lodge 5k`s down the road, or you can order the unprepared ingredients (meat, vegetables, potatoes, etc.) and use your own outdoor kitchen and grill to make dinner. A very good experience.
Beautiful place to stay. The starter packs for food are a great idea.
Perfect! very nice place, affordable, beautiful scenario, liked everything.
I love to camp this way...
The service was excellent. We ordered braai meat and salads from the Sossusvlei Lodge and it was delivered as promised and very tasty.
We loved this place. We hadn't taken on board that we would have to go to another hotel 3 km away for meals but we could order food and self-cater using the outdoor kitchen and the comprehensive pack of pots and pans - perfect for us. Setting was fantastic. Room was very comfortable and the bathroom very good with excellent shower). Our favourite accommodation.
Lovely place. Good location near the park gate. But like most accommodation in Namibia, it was overpriced for what you got. One receptionist was surly and indifferent and blew his nose on his fingers while talking with us. But another receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly.
Dinner meals were absolutely rubbish. Similar complaints were received from foreign tourists. The vegetakles were raw and the vernison steaks were lumps of sinews dunked in marinade. I will discourage (and have allready done so in act tpo friends and family) anyone from using the Desert Lodge. As for the Desert Camp, the noize in the evenings and the dust from speeding cars was more that one can bear. Overall, a very disappointing experience staying there. Only the balloon flight compensated fro this.
The accomodation is very well located, peaceful even when fully booked. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
The camp was delightful, a little more information on proximity to groceries/fresh food would have been useful.
Definitively one of the highlights of our trip, the name of the camp has to be understood word by word, the charm is that there is not much around but a all around view with beautiful sunrise/-set and overwhelming star sky. Good braai facility, kitchen equipment can be rented - and for a bit of luxury the lodge is nearby.
Very friendly staff in a stunningly beautiful location with an excellent breafast at the lodge and very good additional service for self catering.
absolutely amazing! awesome location, awesome view, awesome accommodations, can't say enough good things about the place! this place included breakfast and dinner and we didn't know that.
Big surprise - again not what I expected given its remote location and the DBB buffets were excellent.
loved it! what a view. we had the place to ourselves. food delivery for the braii great and reasonable. the night before we arrived there was a lightning strike so all guests moved. when we arrived reception was terrible, not sure if this was normal staff. no welcome, no acknowledgement, like pulling teeth to check in. i am in wheelchair sitting in front of reception asking reception if tent he is giving us is accessible he says yes. place is totally empty and he gives us the tent the farthest away with steps????? we go back and insist on beautiful wheelchair accessible tent right next to pool...both accessible tents were open. my husband and i joked that possibly real staff was tied up and this guy was a robber posing as staff. next day a woman arrived with a head on her shoulders yeh!!
LOVED Desert Camp! Such a beautiful outlook, very well equipped, very close to Sossusvlei and the pool was wonderful on the very hot days. Only trouble was with a very persistent jackal who wanted to scavenge while we ate dinner on the verandah.
Desert Camp is a great place to stay. It`s close enough to the gate for a sunrise visit. Yet, not crowded in terms of how the `tents` were set up. Although, I would really call them tents, more like a lovely cabin with canvas walls, and solid walls for the loo. The pictures from their website doesn`t do it justice, it`s soo much nicer, and to have mountains and a bit of plains to gaze out into as my backyard is priceless. I would definitely recommend ordering the food and cooking it on the grill that`s provided. The meat was well marinated, and the salads were tasty.
This is a great camp on the border of the Namib desert. Beautiful place, clean rooms. We like it.
Wonderful place to stay. Unfortunately the person on reception gave us the wrong information re park opening so we arrived to find we could have entered much earlier which we would have preferred- however, we had a good time and saw lots
Excellent tent with the possibilities to braai.Perfect position to visit Souslei.
beautiful place and location, great service
brilliant location. eating at the desert lodge a good option.
Very nice. Good room with amazing scenary
Basic but Amazing place
our favorite, excellent views!!!! great tents, clean, buffets at sossuvlei lodge excellent
nice place to stay
Unfortunatly there is an open air bar at Desert Camp, open until 10 o`clock. Desert Camp consists of tents. So you can imagine the barnoises were a nuisance for the tents nearby. We had one of them. Desert means in my opinion silence. So you can imagine we didn`t like the noise, especially if you realise staffmembers were the mean source of it. You are of course not to blaim. Maybe you could contact Sossusvlei Lodge and advise future rest seakers not to go to Desert Camp. I recieved a feedback form from them too. I told my problem, but they said closing the bar at for instance 8 o`clock was not an option, because guests like it. But how many guests?
In July really cold at night and in the morning but a unique location and luxury tents with a great view. Buffet in Sossusvlei lodge was outstanding. But you have to register at Desert camp it self and NOT at the Sossusvlei lodge
Fantastic lotation in the middle of nowhere Excellent solution to have a kitchenette
What a great place, tents with a touch of luxury, and the ability of cook our own meal while watching the sun go down We loved it.
We loved this place! Great location, away from the gates, great accommodation. Loved being able to cook on the braai in the evenings - great food delivery service (you should tell people about this - we only found out on their website).
We loved this camp for its fabulous views and facilities. It`s more glamping (glamorous camping) than camping. One can self cater in style!
friendly staff, good service, wonderfull location, but ther should be heating facilities during the winter. In the early morning hours the temperatur in the tent was 2 degrees celsius. We love this place :-))
Beautiful location and the tents are very sturdy and well equipped. Although it is difficult to sleep when there is an all-night thunderstorm.. The only downside is that having to drive to the Lodge for breakfasts and dinners is a bit of a pain.
Sublime. Wonderful friendly service, accommodation classy, grand setting, great pool and marvellous view. We`ll be back
A fantastic location - we have never 'camped' in such luxury! A nice pool and bar made for a very relaxing time and the food in the lodge was superb with a wide choice. The only downside was the approach road to Desert Camp which was badly rippled and neeeded extra time and care.
Wonderful location and accomodation. The food down the road was the best buffet in Namibia. A winner!
We enjoyed the Desert Camp
Loved the tented units; had a very nice braai while watching the sunset.
Wonderful magical setting with clean, well equipped rooms. The food parcel delivery service was a particularly clever idea.
very very nice place - very relaxing and wonderful base from which to head into sossusvlei. Accommodation was wonderful, bathroom amazing, views spectacular - best place of trip.
Friendly staff in this secluded yet posh camp. The tents are luxurious, and with the bar and available foodstuffs ordering, this place is a great place to spend a night or two outside of Sossusvlei. Hiking trails around the area offer great views at sunset.
Our favourite part of our trip to Namibia. Fantastic location with luxury tented accommodation, helpful staff, relaxing bar/splash pool area and flexible dinner options (full buffet at the Lodge which was excellent but rather pricey or start up pack for your own braai at reasonable price). Stunning view of the landscape!
Fantastic, great buffet at lodge ,great dune tour
The best choice for its location. Very well run. Amazing landscape surrounding the tented units. We'll keep forever very good memory of this place!
Very nice lodge, more basic in some aspects (ie social interaction) but with a fantastic feeling; useful to arrive early to have time to prepare your bbq; breakfast was superb, prepared for us in a massive basket to take with us in the dunes or as a take away for the day we left (from the sister lodge). The proximity to the wildness made it unique, as jackals were visiting to smell our bbq!
The highlight of the trip
Great location, very friendly service
very good cannot complain about the services
Excellent location, food and service though road signs were not very good and it took some time to find the place.
Quite good for the price. Rooms are great, good view. No restaurant in the camp but you eat in the sossulvlei lodge 5min away by car
The luxury tents were absolutely amazing! 360 degree views of country we've never seen in our lives and excellent proximity to food at the Lodge and sightseeing in the Namib Dessert. We hope to go back - had an excellent time!
Very good service at the desert camp. Accommodation very nice, the fan is great, it was clean and I liked the soap dispensers in both the showers and kitchenette.
Great, the kitchenette was way more than expected.
Very nice place, very friendly and professional staff, the perfect location to visit the Sossusvlei, comfortable and clean rooms, Braai package arrived in time as ordered, we would recommand this place to anyone.
Really enjoyed our stay here, pretending to camp, liked that you could order uncooked food at reception that you can grill yourself on the BBQ. Very nice level of accomodation and the breakfast basket was exceptionally nice...
Location perfect! the tents great and the dinner at Sossouvlei Lodge great!
Fantastic. Wish we could have spent 2 nights here. You can order food from them to cook on the bbq too.
unique. personnel helpful but not up to par
A very good value.
Absolutely stunning a great venue
This camp was really nice - we really enjoyed our stay here
AMAZING!!!!! incredible views, incredible service, wonderful wonderful... cold at night in winter!
