Lodge, meals and hospitality absolutely 5 star. Loved it.
The lodge was very nice, and very well decorate. It was also perfectly equipped and food was excellent. However, the location was a little far from Sesriem. All in all I would recommended.
This was of the best service we have ever experienced - the entire team were professional and went out of their way to make us have an enjoyable stay.
Fantastic! Food and activity were great. The accommodation suberpd. The people were very friendly!
superb lodge and food
Awesome accommodation and a fantastic day trip to the dunes organised through the Lodge. John, our guide, was extremely knowledgable - one of the highlights.
Great lodge and sunset watch away from the lodge on a beautiful rocky hill. Was disappointed we only stayed one night as they were fully booked.
outstanding .... the best!!! tomas is a fantastic manager and Johnny an exceptional person ... they will remain in the heart
We were very impressed with this place. I think this was the nicest place we stayed in the entire trip. The food was excellent. Special kudos to Victoria, who greeted us on arrival and served us at dinner and breakfast, for being so professional and yet having a great sense of humor.
Best place we stayed during our trip. High quality standard.
All lodges we stayed at are high quality, but this has that "something more" which made us decide it's the best. Hospitality was so incredibly warm that we felt we are "at home". We'll never forget our desert excursion with lunch under a tree with our beloved guide John. Thanks a lot to Thomas and all the staff.
One of the best lodges we had while travelling. We recommend a two night stay and to book the package so that you are sure to have the Sossusvlei trip included.
Excellent, top notch. Great beds, great host, great location, very good food. IMO - best choice for Sossusvlei. Tour was excellent.
Extraordinary. The owner, Thomas is charming and caring. The staff is always here to help. The bungalow was very nice and beautifully decorated. Our guide, Jonathan was very knowledgeable and we had very interesting discussions with him. The activities were very well organized and we highly appreciated the lunch "in the middle of nowhere" and the sun downer !
beautiful location! Loved the accommodations, food and staff. Really enjoyed the Sossusvlei expedition, although it was HOT!
Our favourite lodge on the trip. The location is a little out of the way but the lodge, service, rooms and the guide were outstanding. Jonathan took us into Sossusvlei for a long day trip - he was just great. The lunch under a tree was the stuff of dreams... We could have easily stayed another day and driven back to Windhoek directly from there.
Beautiful lodge: luxury chalet, furnished with care and good taste. Superb location. Very good welcome from the staff (Victoria, Andreas, etc :). The most charming and friendly the owner, who offered us a drink after dinner, chatting pleasantly with us, listening to Italian music
Hoodia has been an extraordinary experience in Namibia, especially for food, welcome and quality of guides
Great location. Very good food and service. Lovely reception/bar/sitting area. Very good excursion to dunes - worth paying for to have the benefit of the guide.
Easy to find, energetic staff. Beautiful lodge, one of our favourites. We told the owner it was our anniversary and he offered us a complimentary bottle of wine.
Excellent service at perfect venue with wonderful host. Excursion with Guide Jonathan was of the highest possible standard. Food also outstanding.
Although a bit far from Sossusvlei, the location is amazing and allows a good walk on the property with a high mountain just behind the hotel. Room was excellent and very private, far from the others. A bathtub under the sky is awesome. Service was outstanding, friendly and effective. Good food, accommodating all requests (vegetarians, non spicy, whatever) I know you can drive to sossusvlei, but do not miss the opportunity to have the friendly guides to guide you and arrange breakfast and lunch in the park. it is a memorable experience. Ankura is a great guide
Nicely situated. Accommodation and food very good. Attention to detail and good service.
Absolutely brilliant in every aspect. Beautiful environment, fantastic staff, great tour, wonderful food, excellent management/owners. Can't be faulted.
Very nice lodge, super service and staff. The manager Jonathan helped us to exchange our car, perfect location for sossusvlei
Good service friendly staff and great safari and beautiful lodges would return there again.
Great lodge. Set in a barren dessert location (unless it is one of the rare times the river is flowing) and with fab mountain backdrops. Perfect location for Sossusvlei...not to far away but apart from the to-ing and fro-ing of tour vehicles. Elias the guide was incredibly helpful. The trip to Sesriem and Sossusvlei was great. The lunch was surreal. Really good food with a proper table and chairs, table cloth and runner, glassware and china. There was even a wash hand basin and towels! Kinda surreal but fantastic too. Pics to follow.
This was our first stay after Windhoek and set the standard for the rest of the holiday. We were not dissapointed, great food, staff and accommodation, plus great day out to Soussesvlei. Excellent guide (essential for this visit). Lovely to have lunch out, under a tree.
best lodge and best team we visited in Namibia
the place to be in namib desert for the quality of services and team : wonderful welcome, perfect guides, exceptionnel day in namib, unforgettable lunch and sundowner
Wonderful: great views and a truly welcoming host in Thomas
Very beautiful, nice place, nice people, not so big, good meal
Very high quality, they looked after us very well and Hoodia should be top of your list for people visiting Sossusvlei
Exceptionally well designed, helpful and pleasant staff Nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of Sesriem
All perfect,very beatiful
Very professional and warm lodge- from service, meals to accommodation. Sunset drinks (extra) was extremely romantic and worthwhile. Highly recommend.
Very good experience overall. Located outside the park but near enough for convenience. Hut style design (again) of separate, and not-too-many rooms. Lodge portion very well designed, and food (again, no menu) rates as very good+. Location on private land of unspoiled rocky grassland puts you into the Naukluft part of the experience. Back gate takes you in fact to roads to Naukluft (non-dune) gate. You need to watch your fuel, though, as it is available at Sossus gate and Solitaire, but NOT at Naukluft gate.
Nice, but more expensive stay. Customer service and frendliness were first rate. Food was excellent. Did not like the fact that they has a leopard skin in the lounge
A wonderful lodge and it met all our expectations except for the unfortunate weather we experienced. We chose to stay there 4 nights to enjoy the seclution and the wonderful Sussosvlei area to the full. During 3 of the 4 nights we had very, very strong winds that restricted a lot of what we wanted to do. We also has sand and debris in the air that also was challenging. No criticism of the lodge, which we thoroughly enjoyed, only the weather that seems to be common during June.
Service excellent, in particular the guide, who took us on the trip to Sossuvlei was an excellent guide with a lot of experience. The location itself pleased us slightly less than the other lodges.
Not quite sure how to rate this Lodge - it was exceptional, fantastic, wonderful and I give it 15 out of 10. The decor, service, food and the owners are really fantastic. They really go all out to make your stay memorable. I am so glad the Kulala was fully booked and Allison suggested this lodge - it was really amazing and would highly recommend the place.
One of the best in our travel, comfortable lodge and suite, outstanding view on the desert and very good cooking (we are french so it`s a real compliment). A little bit far from sossusvlei but we know that before.
This lodge is really nice and the staff was awesome, especially Thomas, the manager. I travel a lot and I have never seen a guy so friendly, always ready to help you or to have a little chat with you. There you really feel at home
Great and wonderful place. I celebrated my 60`th birthday there!
Convenient for the sand dunes, comfortable, though disliked having piped music even at breakfast when the birdsong from outside was a much more suitable music.
Very romantic, ideal for couples and honeymoon
Excellent choice for a lodge near Sossusvlei. Relatively close. Fabulous rooms. Excellent food and service. Highly recommended. Day activities available.
Very beautiful, excellent service
Perfect, but dinner can be improved ...
Very pleasant, clean and nice food. In 25 min you can be at the Sesriem gate.
Another lodge where we would like to stay more than two nights, the staff is so nice and the place so beautiful -
Beautiful, well appointed hotel. Superb service, delicious food and the guides made our trip very special.
Feels like you're in the middle of the desert, which we liked. Nice bungalows. Good food and excellent wine list.
Our absolute favourite! I could have spent a week here. The staff were so wonderful, especially Michael who let us move our table outside to eat under the stars and spent hours fixing our puncture. It is a bit of a drive to get to Sousslvei but it really was such a beautiful place to stay. The food was excellent, the reception area and restaurant is fantastic and our lodge with the outside shower was perfect.
This is a beautiful, very comfortable place, with stunning views. I was very well looked after by the staff, who were welcoming and helpful. I would recommend it without hesitation.
Very nice but the staff was not as efficient as in the other lodges
Lovely place. will visit again
Great location! Bring a flashlight for walking back to the room after a delicious dinner :) I loved the outside shower with the view of the mountains. After a daytrip to Soussvlei you can relax by the pool with a cocktail.
excellent, all was perfect
This was the last lodge that we stayed at during our visit to Namibia. A beautifully situated lodge at the foot of the Naukluft Mountains. Every afternoon, you can witness a stunning sunset. The service and staff were excellent. We were greeted with wet face towels and a welcome drink when we arrived. The chef was willing to accommodate my partner who is lactose and dairy intolerant and a pescetarian. Throughout our stay, the smaller lodges do not seem to have chefs with an imagination or even properly trained. Hoodia`s chef was better than most - and very willing to try suggestions. There isn`t much variety in the food you will have in Namibia. Hake is virtually the only fish you will have and lots of beef and game. The staff person who turned down the beds at night, would leave a hot water bottle under the covers which was a saviour as it was very cold while we were at Hoodia. I recommend doing the Soussesvlei tour (an all day tour) with the lodge even though it may seem a bit expensive, it is totally worth it. You get to have a wonderful lunch (table, chairs, wine, delicious food) in the veld; a knowledgable, patient guide who will take you all the way to the top of the Big Daddy dune and any other dune you want to walk up. The rooms are part tent, with a thatch roof. Very tastefully decorated. Our last 2 days there - there was a very strong east wind. It was terrible, the noise was relentless. Unfortunately, we didnt get to hike as planned and do the horse riding at Desert Homestead. We spent our time in the main lodge as it was a bit quieter with lots of comfortable chairs and sofas. Should it be windy when you are at Hoodia, I recommend driving to Bullsport or go check out the wine farm nearby. Less wind and you will probably get to hike and horse ride as well at Bullsport. I`m glad we ended our holiday staying at Hoodia. Highly recommended.
We felt very comfortable and food and service were excellent. David and Thelma did a great job and when ever you had questions or you needed any help they were there. The lodge is quite and the chalet is cosy.
Myself and my wife both had a wonderful stay at Hoodia Desert Lodge. This is a place we certainly would return in a next trip to Namibia.
we liked it a lot! a perfect lodge near soussusvlei! the manager is a very nice guy. we never had such a nice introduction to the lodge!! the style of the lodge was exactly our taste! we loved it!
A really lovely place and Angula was a wonderful guide for Sossusvlei. Excellent vegetarian food and nothing is too much trouble. The views are wonderful, and there is a lovely walk along the river.
Beautiful place, very nice owners. The rooms were great as were the common areas (living room, dining room, terrace). We wished we could have stayed longer. Very close to the Sossusvlei access gate.
The location was really wonderful, the accomodation and the service excellent. The only suggestion I have is about the bed: I would have appreciated to find not only heavy blankets, actually we prefer not to turn on air condition. Except for very hot season, when we go to Africa we love to find warm, but we do not like to sweat in the bed!!!
was the best in Namibia, very very good, Management and team were wonderful! best service in Namibia food was excellent,
Had the best and the worst meal at Hoodia. Christmas dinner 2009 is an event better not remembered and cannot recommend
Also a very pleasant place to stay (I really enjoyed the outside bathroom), and also a very nice crew.
I fell in-love with this place. The sunsets and sunrises are just amazing. The lodge facilities are top-notch. The chalet was incredible and the outdoor shower was a great touch. The service was great!
