Daan Viljoen Game Park offers great game viewing and bird watching only 20 km away from the city of Windhoek. Nestled in the Khomas Hochland desert hills, the park has unearthed stone relics and artefacts of the Damara communities who once lived here. The thorn scrub vegetation, open plains and water-holes allow for the easy game spotting of typical Namibian highland animals.
This oasis of calm, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, is the perfect sanctuary to spend time identifying a plethora of flora and fauna. Here you'll have the opportunity to get up close and personal with wildlife such as kudu, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest and over 200 species of birds. Outside Adventures drives you the 20 km to Daan Viljoen Game Park to combine a leisurely afternoon mountain biking with game viewing. Riding at your own pace, accompanied by two knowledgeable and experienced guides, you'll head off road to sneak up on animals grazing on the plains and drinking at water-holes. Then we climb short hills to take in sweeping views of Windhoek before a cooling & exhilarating downhill ride to the dam below.
There it's time to relax over a few Namibian beers and savour a delicious picnic buffet as the sun sets. No experience is necessary. We provide state-of-the-art mountain bikes and all safety equipment. There are plenty of stops, at the unobtrusive support vehicle en route, to top up with cold water and energy-boosting snacks.
