Namib Desert Minerals Half Day Tour

Passengers on the half-day Minerals Tour will be collected from their hotel in Swakopmund at ± 09h00. You will then be driven 2km eastwards of the coastal Atlantic town, to the steam tractor, the 'Martin Luther.' This steam tractor is the only material remnant of the first attempt to introduce mechanized transport in Namibia. You will receive a brief description of it's history, as well as of Swakopmund and Namibia in general.
The immediate area around Swakopmund has a variety of deposits of minerals, especially the area around the Rössing Mountain. The Rössing Mine is one of the largest uranium mines in the world. Namibia is a haven for visitors interested in collecting minerals or gems including:
- The Rosequartz – (with it's ruby glimmer.)
- The Kaiser Heliodor.
- Green Marble.
- Garonet.
- Mica.
- Various crystals.
- Moon Stone.
The return journey includes a very scenic drive, combined with a detour through the Khan and Swakop Rivers, where you will be guided to some bizarre stone formations. Your scheduled arrival time back at your accommodation in Swakopmund, is expected to be around 13h00.

Full day tour to the Spitzkoppe Mountains - you will meet the Damara people and be introduced to the Bushman rock art of the area.
