Introduction: Northern wheatears (Oenanthe oenanthe) have been found in habitats were they can perch on anthills, bushes, low branches of trees, stones and dead trees.
Distribution: Vagrant to Namibia but rare sightings have been recorded in Etosha National Park and possibly Mahango National Park.Diet: Runs and jabs at mainly invertebrates such as ants, bees, termites, beetles, small snails and millipedes. Also takes soft fruits and seeds.
Description: A medium-sized chat with a distinctively patterned tail. Upper parts from the crown to the upper rump grey, tinged with olive-brown. There is a bold 'T' at the base of the tail. Chin and belly a pale buff colour.Breeding: Extralimital.
Size: 15cm. Weight: 25g.
