There is just the one family in the Order Psittaciformes, Family Psittacidae which are parrots and lovebirds.
FAMILY PSITTACIDAE
Parrots and lovebirds and small to large birds with short necks, short, strongly hooked bills with mostly bright green plumages. They have short legs and their tails vary from small to long. Parrots and lovebirds are agile tree climbers, hanging on to branches using their feet and bills. A feature of their voice is the ability to mimic. Their diet is mainly vegetarian although some insects are taken before and during breeding. Nest are in either holes in trees or in rock crevices, other birds' nests or termite mounds. Females lay between 1 and 10 eggs, incubated by both sexes.
