FAMILY TURNICIDAE
The Family Turnicidae are small, quail-like birds also called hemipodes. They have short, broad wings and shortened tails. The bill is slender and shorter than the head, the legs are strong, but short, without a hind toe. Just the 1 member of this family is found in Namibia.
