Introduction: River warblers (Locustella fluviatilis) are a non-breeding visitor to Namibia that visit streams and rivers with fringing vegetation and woodlands associated with Zambezi Teak or mombo. Gardens, thickets and reedbeds are other favoured habitats as are jackalberry trees.
Distribution: Far eastern Caprivi Strip on Zambezi/Chobe River systems and Victoria Falls.Diet: Forages mainly on the ground under shrubs, in grasses and from plants for small insects and spiders.
Description: Small drab-coloured warbler. Distinctive looking tail is long and broad with a graduated tip. Sings repetitively by day and night. Locustella is Latin for 'little locust' referring to their 'insect-like songs'.Breeding: Extralimital.
Size: 12cm. Weight: 15g.
