This camp is well situated to provide access to the Spitzkoppe and Brandberg mountains, it could also provide a springboard to the dinosaur footprints at Kalkfeld. The official NACOBTA booklet describes the camp as 'would suit the visitor who is looking for minimum facilities and is willing to take the community as it comes'. From the same source the camps major attraction is 'Namibian rural life in its most natural form'. At present no-one from the Cardboard Box Travel Shop has visited Okambahe Community Camp so we will reserve judgment (anyone who has visited is invited to contact us).
The camp also offers a community horticultural project and bird watching in the Omaruru River bed.
Accommodation includes several grassed camp sites, toilet and shower, a traditional Damara hut (which is un-equipped but can sleep up to 4 people) and accommodation in a 10 person fiberglass dome (possibly something like the millennium dome?)
