Penduka offers visitors to Windhoek, Namibia an opportunity to visit a craft centre and open air museum in Katatura. The Penduka organisation is situated on the banks of the Goreangab Dam which provides a peaceful (if often smelly) environment.
The craft Co-operative sells a range of locally designed and produced embroidered and quilted bedroom furnishings, table linen, clothes, rucksacks, bags and wall hangings. Visitors are welcome to view the crafts been made in the adjacent workshop. Anyone expecting traditional Namibian crafts may be disappointed as most of the works are obviously made with the tourist market in mind. To view the works of Namibian artists pay a visit to the Craft Market in the Old Breweries Building in central Windhoek. (Although even here you may be disappointed by the variety on display - this is due to the lack of marketable Namibian Crafts).
Penduka's open air museum or traditional village displays huts from each of the cultural groups in Namibia. A restaurant facility is available which provides snacks and light meals throughout the day.

One of the best ways to visit Penduka and the rest of the Katatura area is on a Katatura Township Tour
Follow Independence Avenue across Katutura, cross Otjimuse Rd and continue into Eveline Street. turn left into Green Mountain Dam Rd and then left again at the Penduka sign. Follow the signs to the buildings at Goreangab Dam.
Please note Penduka is NOT walking distance from the city centre and you will need your own transport or a taxi.
