Popa Falls is a misnomer as the 'falls' are really only a series of rapids on the Okavango river. Angling is only permitted with a permit which is available at the office. The Popa Falls Resort is situated on the banks of the mighty Kavango River at the last rapids before the river enters Botswana and the Okavango Delta. This rustic resort, situated 15km from the Mahango Game Reserve, is the perfect stop-over when travelling between the Khaudum and Mahango Game Reserves. Accommodation is in the thatched huts alongside the river with communal facilities and field kitchen. Service include restaurant, kiosk, filling station nearby, fishing, swimming, canoeing, boating, unguided game drives to Mahango game reserve, scenery drives, walking trails, etc Due to ists situation the area around Popa Falls is popular with self drivers who are including a visit to the Okavango Delta on their holiday in Namibia. For tourists wanting more comfortable accommodation we reccomend looking at some of the privately owned lodges in Namibia's Caprivi area. |
