Divava Okavango Lodge

Caprivi / Kavango - Namibia

Divava Okavango Lodge and Spa stands on the banks of the the Okavango River, built in and amongst the tall trees and bush overlooking the river, just a few hundred metres from Popa Falls. It is know warmly by the local people as Paradishi Ghomumbiru, or Little Paradise.

There is a restaurant, bar, guest lounge, and a viewing deck overlooking the Okavango River, a laundry service and Internet connection.

A cold or hot breakfast, light lunch or a set 5 course evening meal is available. A buffet style service will be introduced for larger groups or in the high season.

Many guests like to pamper themselves with a visit to the Mystique Spa. The lodge's swimming pool is conveniently situated right next to the sauna and steam rooms, (with a view over the river), as do the 2 round open treatment rooms, which includes a bath treatment therapy.

Accommodation is in 20 luxury chalets, all equipped with en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, telephone, room service, mini-bar/fridge, mosquito nets, tea/coffee station and an in-room safe. Hairdryers, bathrobes/towels, as well as complementary soaps, shampoo's and shower caps, compliment the lodge's personalized service.

Activities here include boat cruises to the Popa Falls, where binoculars and camera's should be at the ready, to watch and record hippo and crocodiles lolling in and around the river banks. Game viewing trips to the Mahango Game Reserve, (only 14kms away) at the far western end of the Bwabwata National Park, can be arranged and although it is only accessible by 4x4 vehicles, the minor gravel tracks, ensures a closer view of the game.

The dry season is a particularly beneficial part of the year for game viewing, as huge herds of elephant congregate along the Okavango River, not to mention frequent sightings of buffalo, sable and roan antelope, bushbuck, reedbuck and tsessebe.

Divava Okavango Lodge also has it's own private island. Guests can hop on a boat for a champagne breakfast, lazy lunch, or a sundowner trip. Other pursuits such as fishing trips and guided bird watching walks, can be put together at the lodge. The larger houseboat can be used for romantic candlelit dinners, cruising downriver to the night sounds of the African bush!

Visitors might like to go on a guided tour to an authentic Kavango village near Divava. Here they can see how food and drink are prepared, watch traditional dancing, go out into the fields and find out how the locals grow their crops, as well as learn about cultural life in general.
