Grande View Lodge
Fish River Canyon - Southern Namibia
Grande View Lodge is a small exclusive lodge in the Fish River Canyon area. The lodge is situated on the canyon's western rim and each en-suite chalet has a private view over the canyon. The chalets have natural rock walls while all the furniture is made and designed by local craftsmen. The linen is hand-picked and of good quality.
The dining / living room area has a veranda which is ideal for sundowners as the sunsets are stunning. The play of colours during sunset varies between hazy yellows, bright orange, reds and purple. When clouds are present, a tone of deep pink is added to the already magnificent display. Quiver Trees, native to southern Namibia, abound on the property and in the immediate vicinity of the chalets & dining area.
Impressive rock formations can be viewed along the sheer dolomite cliffs. Panoramic views of the Fish River Canyon can be found at various viewpoints along the rim, providing for unforgettable hours of hiking, sight seeing and photography sessions.
The Grande View Lodge offers 6 en-suite chalets, these are built in natural rock and have thatched roofs.
The Canyon Naute Park, where Grande View Lodge is located is home to many species of wildlife, typical to the semi-desert conditions of the Fish River Canyon. These include Kudu, Oryx, Springbok, Ostrich, Klipspringer, Steenbok. There are over 300 species of birds recorded in the Fish River Canyon area. Fish Eagles, Black Eagles, Rosy-cheek Lovebirds, Herons, Pelicans are but a few. Cat species include African Wildcat, Leopards, Cheetah, Lynx and others.
- Mild Activity
- Guided 2 hour walk along the Fish River Canyon Rim. Facts about the canyons fauna & flora are discussed during the walk. At sunset a 2 hour scenic 4x4 drive to a northern part of the Canyon Nature Park - which has more abundant game, such as Kudu, Springbuck, oryx & ostrich
- Heavy Activity
- After breakfast leave on a 4x4 trip, the vehicles descends into the canyon to a large exclusive rock pool, which offers excellent swimming. An overhanging cliff provides shade throughout the day. Lunch & drinks are included. 6 - 7 hours

Easier to enjoy than pronounce, this is one of the newest lodges in the area.
