Little Kulala

Deluxe accommodation near Sossusvlei - Namibia

Situated south of the Sesriem gate to Sossusvlei lies the private 21 000 hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve, the closest reserve to Sossusvlei itself. Little Kulala is in a prime location on the western side of the reserve. It offers magnificent dune scenery to the west and rugged Namib mountainous escarpment to the north and east with grassy plains and 'fairy circles' filling the spaces between.

Little Kulala has some of the design features of the established Kulala Desert Lodge, but is smaller and is situated on the dry Auab River bed. Little Kulala offers accommodation in eight thatched and canvas chalets or "Kulalas" (Kulala in the Namibian language "oshiwambo" means "to sleep"). Each unit is set on wooden platforms to provide maximum airflow, and has its own private en-suite bathroom and wrap-around verandah with a small plunge pool. An internal staircase leads to the flat roof top above the bathroom which provides an ideal setting to spend the evening stargazing in your own private confines. An accommodation option for outdoor enthusiasts, we have bedrolls for the roof top to sleep under the stars from a private star gazing platform.

The main area has a relaxed lounge, dining room, bar, curio shop and swimming pool all under thatch.

Activities include early morning guided game drives to the spectacular dunes through a private gate on the Tsauchab River. Game drives and walks are also offered on the private reserve with incredible views, desert game and smaller desert fauna and flora. Another option is early morning ballooning, beginning at first light, the 60 minute balloon safari offers a truly unique experience to soar silently above the magnificent sand dunes and desert with a champagne breakfast being served at your landing site

Situated close by on the same property are the Kulala Wilderness Camp and Kulala Desert Lodges offering accommodation in thatched and canvas chalets.

Camp description:

Game viewing:

• A water hole in front of the main building gives the opportunity to see Oryx, Springbok, Bat Eared Fox, Aardwolf, Ostrich and Jackals. Some Spotted Hyenas can be heard at night.

Drinks:
Drinks on game drives and house-wine at dinner are included on the fully inclusive rate. All other drinks are excluded unless pre-arranged (for an extra cost all drinks can be included). For guests booked on a DBB basis, no drinks are included in the tariff.

Laundry
A daily laundry service is included in the nightly tariff.
