meike's Guesthouse
Swakopmund - Namibia
Meike's Guesthouse is situated in the Namibian coastal town of Swakopmund, the country's main seaside destination 280km west of Windhoek, the capital city. Many self-drive tourists use this location to shake the dust out of their boots after a tour of some of Namibia's northern attractions such as Etosha National Park. Once refreshed and recuperated, they can fill up their boots again with sand from the country's main southern highlight, the stunning dunes at Sossusvlei or at Fish River Canyon.
Meike's Guest House is a well established venture, and has been open for over a decade, while the owners have more than 20 years experience in the Namibian tourism industry. While in Swakopmund an advantage of staying at Meike's Guest House is that it is only a short 5 min walk to the town centre or a 10min stroll to the beach. This is an ideal coastal stopover for individual travellers and families alike who might prefer the option of self-catering in Swakopmund.
Special attention is paid to environmental matters at Meike's and solar geysers heat all the water, indeed the property is the first in Swakopmund to achieve an environmental award from the Namibian Tourism Board.
Apart from being the capital of the Erongo administrative district, this popular coastal retreat attracts many tourists and locals alike, especially in Namibia's hottest months of December and January. There are many outstanding examples of well-maintained German colonial architecture as today these buildings are used for the retail and banking industry, restaurants and bars. The many attractions here include a number of exciting day tours and attractions.
At Meike's the facilities include disable access, free Wi-fi Lan and access to a computer while a laundry service can be arranged.
Accommodation is in single or double rooms. They are all equipped with en-suite bathrooms, TV, tea/coffee station, fridge, private verandah, safe parking and room service is available. Some of the rooms have a fan.
German, English and Afrikaans are spoken.
Top location, right on the beach. This is a very popular accommodation choice - and rightly so.
Slightly outide town on the banks of the Swakop River and overlooking the dunes of the Namib Desert. Excellent for those wanting a quite deser setting near the convenience of town
Close to the main beach and Swakopmund aquarium, also boasts a heated swimming pool
Absolutely unique! Built on stilts into the Swakop River - many units offer great views. Feels more like a traditional country lodge rather than an establishment in a busy tourist town.
