The Nest Hotel is the ideal place from which to explore the many and unusual attractions in and around Lüderitz, such as Diaz Point, the museum, a trip to the 55m Bogenfels rock arch and the mining town of Pomona. Many of their guests go a morning excursion to the ghost town of Kolmanskop, which was, in earlier times, the focal point of Namibia's thriving diamond industry. There is also the Sedina sailing boat trip to Halifax Island, which hosts more than 1200 African Jackass penguins.

When the wind blows, which is most of the time, the final 10km into Luderitz may be blocked by sand dunes, which seem eternally determined upon crossing the road. The drifts pile quite high before the road crews clean them off, and conditions do get hazardous, especially if it’s foggy.

The Nest Hotel is situated on the old "Blade Strand" in Luderitz, on the beach. If you are arriving from the south, turn left at the end of Baai Weg, from the north, head south down Bismarck street near the coast, and fork left to keep to the coast. The hotel is at the end of Diaz street.
