Walvis Bay has a very unique location with the bustling harbour, the only deep-sea port on the West Coast of Southern Africa, on the one side and the tranquillity of the lagoon and the isolation of the Namib desert on the other.

Surrounded by the Atlantic, the Walvis Bay Lagoon and the world's oldest desert, the Namib, the Walvis Bay Protea Lodge offers a memorable haven to travellers from near and far. All rooms are en-suite, with air-conditioning and colour TV (with M-Net), as well as ergodynamically designed working desks. Activities include camel rides, dune-skiing, quad-biking, hang-gliding and even a round of golf on a novel 9-hole desert golf course. Accommodation at Pelican Bay Hotel comprises two well appointed en-suite single-bedded rooms, 20 well appointed en-suite twin bedded rooms (of which one has specially been equipped for the disabled) and 4 well-appointed spacious en-suite rooms with kingsize beds and sleeper couches that can serve as family rooms. All rooms have air-conditioning, TV with five channels and a music channel, direct-dial telephone, hairdryer, coffee making facility, while some rooms also have a balcony.
