Hotel Pension Uhland is situated 10 minutes walk from Windhoek city centre and offer great value-for-money and a friendly atmosphere.

There is a separate computer in the lounge with internet access or wireless LAN for personal laptops and a small library and book exchange. The cozy bar, housed in a charismatic open-thatched lapa, is a great spot to down a few cool Namibian beers, and the splash pool provides a welcome relief from the hot, afternoon sunshine.

The corporate world is welcome here as well. The business person is welcome to use the breakfast room for that small conference or private meeting.

It would be unwise to venture out first thing in the morning without a comprehensive visit to the Hotel Uhland's breakfast buffet, renown for a mouth-watering fresh fruit salad, cheese and sausage platters, Namibian smoked meat, farm-made jam as well as a variety of bread and rolls. If there is still room, then a plate of fried or scrambled eggs, or an omelette should do the trick. Breakfast is served from 07h00 to 09h00 Mon-Fri and from 08h00 to 10h00 on weekends and public holidays. Early departures can order a packed breakfast the day before.

Tea and coffee, with home-made cake, are served in the afternoon. Light lunches can be ordered on request and a buffet style dinner is on offer in the evenings, complimented with a variety of Namibian beers, South African wines and a selection of soft drinks.

Hungry guests might hear the names Schoko, Minka and Espresso being hailed around meal times. These are not items on the menu for the dinner special though, but the pensions' pet dog and 2 cats.

Accommodation is in a combination of standard single and double rooms. They are all equipped with a telephone, TV, mini-bar and tea/coffee station. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, with toilet, shower or bathtub. Rooms can be reserved with connecting doors, ideal for the family or small groups

The Superior Room offers a bit more comfort, with air-conditioning/heater and satellite TV. Some of these rooms also have a balcony. Students are not forgotten here and there is an affordable room available during an internship, in their student room.

A personal laundry service is available. Hand it in to reception in the morning and it will be washed, dried and iron within a day. There is also a special suitcase service. No, they don't put your luggage in the washing machine, but a whole suitcase full of dirty laundry, will be cleaned and dried for the onward journey.

An interesting part of the hotel's grounds is the spacious aviary, with a variety of colourful love birds. The garden also attracts indigenous birds such as the African red-eyed bul-bul, the white-backed mousebird, the African grey lowrie, the Bee-Eater to name but a few.

There is secure parking in the yard and English, German and French are spoken here.
