River Crossing Lodge (opened late 2009) is situated just east of Namibia's capital city Windhoek, nestled amongst the foothills of the Auas Mountains. This location makes it an ideal first or final destination on any visit to Namibia, especially if your onward journey departs from the main international airport. Also, as it is a mere 5 mins drive from the city centre, it is not too far from the main shopping, medical and banking facilities.

The German architecture at River Crossing Lodge resembles a farm style of yesteryear, complete with corrugated roofs, wide balconies decorated with impressive pots of geraniums, all on an unspoiled game estate.

Entrance through the main lodge area, is through a set of impressive double doors that lead straight to the bar, overlooking the swimming pool. The large dining room leads out onto a deck, where dramatic views of Windhoek, the mountains and surrounding game farm abound. This is just the venue for a sundowner and a snack as the beautiful Namibian sun sets.

To the left of the bar is a large lounge, furnished with comfortable leather sofas and decorated with black and white pictures of vintage Windhoek. This huge building has room for a Conference Centre with large folding doors which open out onto a verandah and a small Wellness Centre, offering small-scale beauty massages and facial/body treatments.

A selection of function venues are available, suitable for birthday parties, wedding anniversaries or business functions such as team building weekends and charity events.

Meals are served in the restaurant, but dinner needs to be pre-booked. Most of the vegetables have been grown in the lodge's own gardens.

Accommodation at River Crossing Lodge is 20 double rooms, 5 have double beds and 15 with twin beds. A choice of settings are available for rooms; rim-perched, Windhoek facing or Auas Mountain view. All rooms are equipped with DSTV satellite channels and wireless Internet access. The rooms are fairly small and are not suitable for families, so additional rooms would have to be booked. But this is more than compensated with a visit to your private balcony, which offers excellent vistas.

River Crossing Lodge is built on a large game farm which is home to a diversity of Namibian wildlife. Farm game drives are on offer from the lodge

Any length of trail can be arranged from a few hours outride to longer excursions (with nights spent in the bush)

Directions:

River Crossing Lodge is 2km east of Windhoek (the turnoff to the lodge is from the B6 road which runs to the Windhoek International airport, Gobabis and Botswana).

Arriving from Windhoek pass Avis Dam on your left, go under the railway bridge and then take the first turning to your right. The lodge is along this road.
