Solitaire Country Lodge is situated in the small settlement of Solitaire. As a stop-over on your tour of southwestern Namibia and on the way to Sossusvlei it is a must. The general dealer store (operated by the world famous Moose - see picture below) offers home baked bread and apple pie, and, of course, drinks, fuel and tyre repair. For most of the year Solitaire is the proverbial one horse town - but during the tourist season it becomes very busy as everybody heading to the dunes from either Swakopmund or Windhoek has to pass through the town.

Solitaire Country Lodge offers 25 en-suite bedrooms, each with two single beds or double bed and air-conditioning. The accommodation is farly basic - and will not appeal to those seeking luxury. All rooms face the central courtyard with the huge swimming pool in the centre. Camping, bungalows and limited meals are on offer in an environment with a unique character and unsurpassed hospitality.

The lodge is only 83 km from Sesriem and is the ideal base from which to explore the Naukluft mountains.
