Visitors to Walvis Bay searching for a bed and breakfast establishment, should seriously consider staying at Spindrift Guesthouse, conveniently located a 1min walk from the famous Walvis Bay Lagoon. A decent selection of well-established bars and restaurants are a short distance away and self-drive visitors can journey to Pelican Point Peninsula or take a 4x4 tour to Sandwich Harbour.
Spindrift is also the ideal coastal stopover to visit the Namib Naukluft Park, Damaraland and eventually on to Sossusvlei. The Welwitschia mirabilis, one of the rarest plants in the world, can be viewed near the Kuiseb and Swakop dry river beds.
Relaxation is high on the agenda at Spindrift. They pride themselves on a 'friendly and homely atmosphere', and their well-kept garden, swimming pool and koi fish pond, provide a delightful and peaceful setting to unwind between Namib Desert coastal explorations. Other facilities include a guest lounge, pool table, wi-fi Internet connection, braai area and off-road secure parking. All of the rooms are non-smoking and there is a laundry service on request. Their art studio, run from within the guesthouses management team, benefits local artists.
Accommodation is 8 rooms. They are all suitable for 2 people, and 3 of the rooms can accommodate up to 4 persons, ideal for families. En-suite bathrooms, a TV and a tea/coffee station are standard. Some of the rooms that don't benefit from cross-wind ventilation, are equipped with fans. All rooms have verandahs and balconies that overlook the beautiful garden.
Breakfast is served between 07h00 and 10h00. Evening meals can be arranged in advance and the management team will be only too happy to recommend a nearby restaurant.
There are a wide variety of day tours and activities to occupy yourselves in Walvis Bay. Attractions in or around the town include birdwatching at the lagoon, golf, fishing and walking. The local museum and the wooden Rhenish Mission Church, (proclaimed a national monument on the 24th November 1972) are also worth a visit.
