Zambezi Queen
Caprivi - Namibia
Imagine an African safari. Not just any safari in a 4x4 vehicle, Mokoro dug-out canoe, or even with a birds eye view from the air. But an African safari in your own private suite, aboard a luxurious 5-star, 45m boat! This is the Zambezi Queen, launching in August 2009, on the untamed waters of the Chobe River.
A river that divides Botswana's Chobe National Park from Namibia's Caprivi Strip, with one of the densest populations of wildlife in Africa. Huge herds of elephant and buffalo, lion, leopard and a variety of antelope, coming to drink and graze on the river's banks, with hippo and crocodiles swimming alongside, watching and waiting.
A 2/3 night stay includes collection from either the Botswana Immigration Post at Kasane, or from the Impalila airstrip on the Namibian side of the river. (Special arrangements can be made for other land transfer requirements.)
This magnificent craft has 3 levels. The first boasts an air-conditioned lounge, with a small library of books of the area, computer facilities and numerous games. (Not including walk the plank!) All of the areas are protected by mosquito screens, and the 2 outside parts on the top deck include a shaded place, with seating, splash pool and sunbathing sections.
The remainder of the first, and the entire second level contain the living quarters. Accommodation is in either 10 Suites or 4 Master Suites. They all have en-suite bathrooms, with king or twin beds, private balconies and a fan. Full length shutters offer protection from the sun, and the sliding (insect proof) doors will keep away any annoying, uninvited pests. (Including mosquitoes!)
The third, and top level, is the entertainment deck, with dining facilities and an open-plan lounge area, complete with fireplace. Meals will be prepared and cooked by the Zambezi Queen's very own chef. There is even a telescope to gaze at those beautiful African star-lit skies. A lunch time drink, sundowner, or a night cap, can be ordered from the well-stocked bar, with its' comprehensive selection of the finest wines and spirits available.
The Zambezi Queen has a dedicated team of experienced guides, waiting to inform and enlighten their visitors, on the many aspects of this lush, African bush and riverine.
