Sossus Dune Lodge is the first lodge built within the borders of the Namib-Naukluft Park. The lodge was officially opened in July 2007. Built in an environmentally sensitive manner, primarily from wood, canvas and thatch, in an attractive ‘afro-village’ style. The aim of building the lodge was to minimise the environmental impact on this ecologically sensative portion of the Namib Desert. Sossus Dune Lodge offers professional guided tours, allowing visitors to experieince the beauty and biological diversity of the desert environment to its fullest extent. As the lodge is situated within the national park, those staying at the lodge will benefit from being able to reach the dunes at Sossusvlei before sunrise, and to stay until after sunset. On your return from Sossusvlei the lodge offers the opportunity to relax in the tranquility and splendour of the Namib Desert, in this unique part of Namibia |
