Alte Fort Museum

Museums Namibia

The `Living Museum’ situated at Grashoek was opened in 2004 and was the first to be established by the Living Culture Foundation of Namibia. It is reached by driving 53km from Grootfontein on the B8 towards Rundu and then turning right onto the road to Tsumkwe. The site is 74 km along this road with a clearly marked sign just after the veterinary control post. The site is then reached by driving about 5km down a sandy track. The museum is run by a committee elected from a community of about 200 people that live at the site and provides the main source of income to the community.
