This three day accommodated safari is a good way to see one of Namibia's most spectacular sights: the towering dunes at Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert. This is one of our most popular trips as it has daily departures from both Windhoek and Swakopmund and you can be dropped of in either of these locations at the end of the trip. This versatility allows it to be added on to many other safaris and it is frequently used by those wanting to self drive around northern Namibia and then be guided on the Sossusvlei section of their trip.

This safari is also good for those working or visiting friends in Namibia as with an afternoon departure it can easily be used as a weekend getaway (no-one in Namibia really works on a Friday afternoon anyway!) The accommodation, which is at Namib Naukluft Lodge, is mid range and comfortable.

Day 1: Windhoek - Namib Naukluft Lodge

You will be collected by your driver/guide from your accommodation in Windhoek at 2pm (or 1pm during wintertime *). Travel via the scenic Spreetshoogte pass (one of the steepest and most scenic passes in Namibia) and Solitaire to Namib Naukluft lodge. Enjoy the desert feeling - no fences and miles of desolate but beautiful Namib Desert view - unique to Namibia

Day 2: Sossusvlei

Today starts with an early morning departure on your Sossusvlei excursion. You have the opportunity to climb some of the highest sand dunes in the world; admire the picturesque scenery and the desert's fauna and flora. Visit the rugged Sesriem canyon before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon join a guided nature / sunset-drive to the 'marble mountains' or relax at the lodge with a typical Namibian 'sundowner' on the verandah and enjoy a spectacular sunset.

Day 3: Namib Naukluft Lodge - Windhoek

After breakfast you return to Windhoek, we use a different route on the way back going via the Remshoogte Pass allowing you to see different scenery. Arrival time Windhoek is around 12h30.
