Swakopmund |
We depart from Windhoek during the early morning and travel via the Gamsberg Pass. At a vantage point we take in the awe-inspiring view of the Namib Desert.
We continue to Swakopmund. The unique Welwitschia mirabilis is endemic to the Namib and one of the oldest plants known to man. The plant produces only two leaves throughout its lifespan, but the desert winds tear at the fibrous leaves leaving them shredded into strips. We travel through the bizarre Moon landscape before arriving in Swakopmund. Swakopmund is a popular holiday resort today, but during the colonial time at the turn of the century, it had a very important function as a harbour town. The many old buildings from that era give the town a special charming flair. The name of the town is derived from the river which enters the Atlantic just south of the town. |

2
Damaraland |
We have an early morning departure on the salt road towards Henties Bay. We continue via Uis to one of Namibia’s most important archaeological sites at Twyfelfontein. The rock art here is one of the largest collections of its kind on the African continent. The formation and colour of the nearby Burnt Mountain have given reason to much speculation of its origin. The Organ Pipes are a mass of basalt slabs in a ravine gouged out by a river. After enjoying our picnic lunch we continue to the remote Grootberg Lodge. The scenery is magnificent and springbuck, oryx and kudu abound in the area. Rare birdlife includes the Rüppels Korhaan. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner |

Game farm Central Namibia |
Our journey takes us via Kamanjab to Mount Etjo. We arrive at the lodge in time for the afternoon game drive. Here you might see various species of antelope, giraffe, rhinos, maybe even lions and leopards as well as cheetahs. Situated in one of the most scenic parts in Namibia, you can come into close contact with nature itself. Mount Etjo is a place which will stay etched in your memory. |

Windhoek |
You may take part on an optional early morning game drive (on own account). We return to Windhoek via Okahandja, home of the Herero people. We visit the Herero graves and the handcraft market. Here you have the opportunity en route to purchase a souvenir such as wood carvings and clay pots. |
