Molopo Kalahari Lodge
After breakfast we head for the Molopo Kalahari Lodge. Our route will take us via Gochas, Koes and Aroab to Rietfontein, the border control post between Namibia and South Africa, and to the Lodge. 3
Kalahari
An early departure will allow for a full day of game viewing in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, where large herds of antelope abound. With a bit of luck we will see the Kalahari lions, significant for their size and black mane. Breakfast and lunch will be served in the designated picnic spots in the park.

4
Augrabies Falls
Today the tours destination is the Augrabies Falls National Park. Our route will proceed via Upington, Keimos and Kakamas. We will stop for lunch in Upington, where we will visit the museum and/or the SA Dried Fruit Co-operative. Also on the agenda for today will be wine tasting at the Co-operative Wine Cellars and the almost extinct sight of a waterwheel. In a canal beside the main street of Keimos, the waterwheel still turns today, its metal canisters raising the precious water from one level to another. The first hydro electrical power station to be built in South Africa is found in Kakamas.

Namaqualand
From the suspension bridge view the spectacular Augrabies Falls – a Khoihoi word for “place of great noise”. From a height of 56m, this thundering mass of water plummets into a 20m wide ravine, said to be the largest gorge through granite on earth. Today we journey to Springbok, the capital of the Namaqualand. Depending on the summer rainfall, for a few weeks in spring (mid August to September) a colourful carpet of the most beautiful wild flowers will transform this region.

6
Lamberts Bay
Today the tour takes us via Kamieskroon, Garies, Bitterfontein, Vanrhynsdorp, Vredendal and Clanwilliam to the quaint fishing town of Lambert’s Bay. The Vredendal Co-operative has one of the largest wine cellars in the country. Tours and wine tasting are undertaken here. Clanwilliam is the centre of the rooibos tea industry.

Lambert’s Bay has a picturesque harbour and busy fish-processing factories.

Lamberts Bay

After breakfast we head for Bird Island. In 1959 the island was joined to the mainland by a breakwater. Bird Island is home to cormorants, jackass penguins and Cape gannets. The island provides an ideal site for bird watching at close range.

A boat trip on the Atlantic Ocean follows, where we hope for some interaction with the dolphins. A perfect end to the day: dinner at the Muisbosskerm Fish Restaurant. An “amphitheatre” on the beach providing a fish feast!
