Sossusvlei, Swakopmund & Etosha Tour

accommodated tour to the Namib Desert, Namibian Coast, Damaraland and Etosha Park

The Sossusvlei, Swakopmund and Etosha Tour, is a 9 day accommodated safari, and is a good starting point for those with less than two weeks to spend exploring Namibia, but still allows for some sightseeing and day tours either side of it. It manages to visit the essential highlights of the country, from Windhoek to the Namib Desert, over to the Atlantic Coast, and then to wildlife of the Etosha National Park in Northern Namibia. The tour begins with:

  • A visit to the (fossil) dunes over 20 million years old and that contain fossils of the ancestors of the modern day Ostrich.
  • The opportunity to climb some of the highest sand dunes in the world at Sossusvlei; admire the picturesque scenery and the desert's fauna and flora.
  • See the Welwitschia Plant, over 1,000 years old, with it's leaves torn and shredded by the harsh desert wind.
  • Accompany seals and dolphins on board a trip on the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Marvel at the rock carvings at Twyfelfontein, over 2,000 years old.
  • Wonder at the impressive sighting of the Vingerklip, (Finger Rock) a 35m monolith, balancing precariously on the top of conical shaped debris mound.
  • End this fantastic tour with a visit to Etosha National Park, that during the dry season (May-Oct) is certainly the most rewarding time for game viewing. Huge herds of game assemble at the waterholes (to entertain the tourists) at dawn and dusk.
