This camping safari visits the Save the Rhino Trust in the Damaraland region of Namibia. You will spend time on this safari tracking the Rhino of the Damaraland region both on foot and in vehicles along with members of the Save the Rhino Trust, Namibia - Rhino Patrol. Part of the profits from this safari are donated to the Rhino Fund and will be used to further the conservation of the Damaraland Rhino population.

This safari itinerary can be ammended to include extra days or be included in a longer safari around Namibia, please feel free to contact us with any special requests.

Day 1
Save the Rhino Trust - Camp
Your guide meets the guests at your hotel in Swakopmund this morning. From Swakopmund the safari takes us into the Damaraland, visiting the lichen fields at Wlotzka's Baken and the seal colony at Cape Cross en route. We turn of towards Brandberg West, our destination for tonight is Fly's Camp, run by SRT- 'Save the Rhino Trust'. Camping overnight in 2 Man tents.

Day 2
Save the Rhino Trust
After breakfast we start the day with a scenic drive into these contrasting beautiful landscapes of the Damaraland/ Ugab region. Nature lovers and hobby photographers will be richly rewarded, with a possibility to see desert elephant. Around noon we meet up with the SRT Patrol group, joining them on their routine work. The 'rhino' area has to be guarded by regular patrols and we will contribute to the protection and preservation of the environment and this endangered species.

Day 3
Twyfelfontein
We continue our patrol with SRT, learning more about their field work and what it entails to protect and preserve the black rhino population. Apart from savanna game such as kudu, oryx, ostrich, springbok, giraffe - with some luck we might encounter the endangered black rhino. Late Midday we say 'farewell' to SRT and travel onwards to Twyfelfontein.

Day 4
In the morning we take a guided walk to the superb collection of rock-engravings at Twyfelfontein, visiting the Burnt Mountain and continuing the safari via the town of Uis, passing the ±2800m high Brandberg massive, travelling back to Swakopmund. Arrival in the late afternoon, the guide will drop you back at the hotel in Swakopmund

  • Please no suitcases! Light/Soft travelling bags up to 20kg are easier to store.
  • Due to the fragility of the environment groups consist of minimum two participants/ maximum 4 participants.

  • A donation of N$ 2000.00 to cover/ sponsor the cost of the SRT Rhino Patrol is included in the tour price.
  • It is a prerequisite that the guest's are in good medical condition and physically fit!! since the a major part of the patrol is covered on foot – with a backpack (ca. 15km per day).
  • Rhino sighting is not always guaranteed!
