This afternoon there will be a sundowner drive along the edge of the Fish River Canyon.

Dinner, which largely consists of home grown organic products and complemented by a good selection of South African wines, is followed by a short walk under the stars.

We will arrive in Luderitz at around 3 o’clock, from the airport you will transferred to the Seaview Hotel. Your sea facing room has great views over the bay at Luderitz, and the hotel also boasts a heated indoor swimming pool and sauna.

Luderitz has several restaurant which offer a range of seafood specialities and dinner tonight will be at your own expense at the restaurant of your choice.

After the cruise you will be transferred the short distance into the Namib Desert to the Ghost Town of Kolamskop. After a short guided tour you are free to roam the deserted houses, shops and hospital at your own leisure. There is even the chance of a game of skittles in the Kolamskop town hall.

After the excitement of the morning it is back into town for lunch at a local restaurant. This afternoon will be spent with the guide exploring the rocky and inhospitable coastline around Luderitz.

After a leisurely breakfast this morning you board the plane for the flight deep into the heart of the Namib Desert. A short flight of less than an hour brings us to our destination, Sossusvlei, reputed to be the highest dunes in the world.

You will stay at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge which is situated on the private NamibRand Nature reserve. Due to its unique location the Namib Rand reserve offers a diversity of desert landscapes. Game species found in the reserve include gemsbok, mountain and plains zebra, springbok, red hartebeest, bat-eared fox, spotted hyena, Cape fox and African wildcats. The more rocky areas are inhabited by kudu, klipspringer, baboon and leopard.

In the cool of the evening, the resident naturalist will take you out in four-wheel drive open vehicles to explore the open grass plains, fossilized sand dunes and orange sand dune belts of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. This is followed by a three course dinner at the lodge restaurant, after which you can visit the private observatory which houses the most powerful electronic telescope in Namibia outside the National Observatory. The clear skies make Namibia one of the world’s premier areas for star-gazing.

The split-level suites are located at the foot of a mountain overlooking an expansive Namib grass plain leading into a sea of orange sand dunes. Each suite is equipped for the climatic extremes of the desert. There is a fireplace in the split-level lounge for winter evenings. For the hot desert days, there are showers in the en-suite, glass-encased bathroom. There are also outdoor showers for starlit bathing.

Cradled against ancient mountains, Sossusvlei Mountain lodge's decor embraces muted hues of ochre, umber and ivory. An expansive star-viewing window above the bed is every child-at-heart's dream come true. The rooms are equipped with personal compact telescopes for game- or star-spotting, a service-intercom to the main lodge and a CD system.

Brunch will be under an ancient desert Camelthorn Tree, after which we return to the lodge. Activities in the Namib co-incide with the cool of the day (morning and evening) and the heat of the afternoon is best escaped by enjoying cocktails around the lodges spring fed swimming pool.

As things begin to cool down you head out on quad bikes, this is undoubtedly the best way to view the splendor of the Namib Rand. However as this is a delicate ecological area your guide will ask you to stay on set routes to minimize damage to the environment.

On returning to the lodge you board the aircraft and take off for the hour’s flight to the Namibian Coast.

This afternoon there will be time to explore the scenic seaside town of Swakopmund

Tonight will be spent at the Hansa Hotel in Swakopmund, lunch and dinner will be at your own expense at one of Swakopmund's many eateries.

This afternoon you will be transferred up the Skeleton Coast to the remote Cape Cross Lodge. Before dinner there is time for a visit to Cape Cross seal colony and a stroll up the totally deserted beach.

Serra Cafema Camp is located in the extreme north-west of Namibia and has to be the most remote camp in Southern Africa. The camps Portuguese name comes from the mountains to the north that dominates the skyline. We share this region with wonderful Himba people who are some of the last true nomadic people in Africa. The Kunene River is the only permanent source of water in the whole region and the river creates a lush oasis along it's banks surrounded by rugged mountains and sand dunes.

Under big, shady Albida trees you will find a small, rustic and peaceful camp with all the comforts; accommodation is in fully furnished Meru tents with en-suite bathroom facilities. The camp's six tents are raised off the ground. Serra Cafema has a small swimming pool, dining room and bar. The camp is located just inland from the Atlantic Ocean and the Skeleton Coast. The cool winds that blow from the Atlantic help to keep the camp cool even in summer.

You will spend time in breath-taking landscapes in the Hartmann Valley, to the south of the camp, with herds of springbok, ostrich and even leopard. We traverse sand dunes on 4x4 safaris and boat on the Kunene River that becomes the focus for the area. On the boat trips, one can watch Kunene crocodiles basking the river banks. Walking trails in the remote mountain and river valleys will always be a highlight for those who enjoy foot safaris. Cafema is often visited by the native Ovahimba families who live in the nearby vicinity which give the guests the chance to learn all about their lifestyles and traditions.

Lion, elephant, cheetah, oryx, springbok and hartebeest can be seen at many of the water holes in the park. The Ongava Reserve has resident white and black rhino, giving guests staying at Little Ongava the opportunity to see both species. Guests at Little Ongava share a dedicated guide and Land Rover ensuring the optimum nature experience at one of Africa's great wildlife destinations.

Activities will include game drives both in the Etosha Park and on the private Ongava Reserve, rhino tracking on foot and night game hides. Etosha is one of Africa’s great game viewing experiences and little Ongava is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Namibian bush.

Overnight: Little Kulala - Etosha Park

Cheetahs - Visit the Africat Project area and meet some of the cheetah or accompany our guides as they monitor the progress of the cheetahs in the Tusk Rehabilitation camp. Okonjima is home to over forty cheetahs, many of whom were separated from their mothers before they learnt how to survive on their own. The Rehabilitation Camp will give these cheetahs an opportunity to learn survival skills such as hunting in a closely monitored environment. Successful cheetahs will be relocated to parks and game farms.

Cheetah Tracking on Foot - Cheetahs within the rehabilitation are radio tracked on foot, sightings of the cats is not guaranteed.

Leopards - Wild leopards are fed every night and guests can observe these secretive predators from the safety of a hide. Okonjima is also the site of a leopard monitoring project with the resident leopard collared and tracked to determine the number of leopard in the area, their movements and activities. This information will be used to better understand leopard found on Namibian farmland and reduce the conflict between leopards and farmers.

Lion - Okonjima has three tame lions - Matata, Tambo and Tessie. Born in captivity, the lions have become part of the Okonjima family and the pride has three lion and five human members. The lions can usually be seen most mornings before trails leave the lodge

Bushman Trail - Catch a glimpse of a day in the life of a bushman. Learn how the bushman made rope, fire and traps and lived in harmony with nature.

Mountain Walk - For the energetic, early-riser, we offer a guided mountain walk which includes identification of animal spoor, information on the local people and spectacular views

Bird Watching - Over 300 bird species have been identified at Okonjima. Two spacious hides are within walking distance of the lodge and we now offer a hide situated at a recently established vulture restaurant a short drive from the lodge.

Walks and Trails - A variety of walks ranging in difficulty from easy to quite strenuous are available. The sundowner walk is usually done in the evening after the cheetah activity and is a favourite with many of our guests.

Night Hide - Ever wondered what those noises are at night. Guests can choose after dinner to visit a hide and observe nocturnal animals such as honey badger and porcupine as they go about their business.
