Shark Fishing

Fishing Day tours

Challenge the cold waters of the Atlantic for the most exciting angling experience of your life. Fight a 150kg shark for two hours, or land any of the many other species of shark and edible fish waiting to be caught.

Shark fishing can be done from boats or from the beach. The proffesional anglers suggest that you try shark fishing from the beach as the fight is better and much more exciting.

Beach Fishing covers the area from Sandwich Harbour south of Walvis Bay northward up to Terrace Bay in the Skeleton Coast Park. It is not only about the fishing as throughout the day you will see dolphins cruising past along the shoreline, curious seals coming to see what you are up to, pelicans waddling up in the hope of a snack and flamingoes sunning themselves on the beach. It is a magnificent setting for some of the best angling experiences offered worldwide.

The following species can be caught - Kabeljou, Steenbras, Blacktail, Barbel, Galjoen, Garrick and varous shark species, from sand sharks to spotted gully sharks, with the ultimate challenge undoubtedly being the Copper Shark of which specimens of 150kg plus are regularly landed. Generally fishing is good all year round, with the best times being October to April and the best month for shark fishing being February.

All tackle used is the most modern type available, Shimano and Daiwa reels and graphite surf casting rods. Casting can/will be done for clients. If preferred clients' own reels can be used. The tag and release method is actively supported but if you wish to try out your catch your guide will fillet it for you or take it to your accommodation and ask the chef to prepare it for you.
