This is a suggested extension to the 16 Day Namibian Explorer self drive itinerary. It visits the world famous Okonjima Cheetah Sanctuary. Okonjima is home to Africat Foundation which is dedicated to the preservation and rehabilitation of big cats; particularly Cheetah and Leopard. Okonjima is certainly worth a two night sty as there are many activities available.

The gravel road to Okonjima is well signposted from the road between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo, follow this road towards the lodge. This evening you will spend experiencing the cats of Okonjima, which will probably be one of the highlights of your trip. Once you have checked in at the lodge be sure to enquire at what time the various activities occur, these are normally after 15:00 in winter or 16:00 in summer.
