| 1 Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge | You can either be collected from the airport or your accommodation in Windhoek depending on your itinerary. The flight to Sesriem takes about an hour and a half and then you will be transferred to Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge by vehicle. Accommodation: Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge (full board, drinks & activities) This extraordinary safari lodge is renowned for its luxurious and private accommodation set at the foot of a mountain overlooking the stark, yet beautiful Namib Desert. • Indoor and outdoor showers • Star-viewing skylights • Sparkling swimming pool • Elegant sitting and dining areas • Viewing decks with panoramic desert views Designed to capture the splendour and solitude of the desert, each stone and glass desert villa is set along the curve of the escarpment, affording absolute privacy. Each villa features a shaded private veranda, split-level bedroom and living room with fireplace, fully-stocked personal bar, compact spotting scope and a service-intercom to the main lodge. A fine selection of wines from our walk-in wine cellar complements delicious Pan-African cuisine, which is served in the glass-fronted dining room. The split-level main lodge features a fire-lit bar, comfortable sitting room, mezzanine library with CD and book collection, swimming pool, wraparound verandas and African gift shop. The pool is fed by water from an underground spring. At sunset, animals are drawn to a nearby waterhole, providing added enjoyment to a sundowner drink. Sossusvlei is renowned for its exciting bush breakfasts and dinners in dramatic desert locations. |
| 2 Sossusvlei & NamibRand Nature Reserve | Today is an early start with a guided morning visit to Sossusvlei. Before leaving you can grab a quick cup of tea or coffee and a small snack to keep the hunger pangs at bay. Sossusvlei has the largest dunes in the world and is one of Namibia’s main tourist attractions. Ancient mineral pans, the twisted forms of dead trees and the chance of seeing a gemsbok or maybe an ostrich make the photo opportunities perfect. The morning is spent exploring this surreal landscape and then having a leisurely brunch in the shade of a camel thorn. After returning to the lodge, the afternoon activities can include a guided walk, quad biking or a nature drive. Accommodation: Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge including meals & drinks |
| 3 NamibRand Nature Reserve | Today you have a choice of the normal activities that are included in your package (as listed in the activity section below) or you could splash out on ballooning - a once-in-a-lifetime experience over stunning desert scenery in the NamibRand Conservancy and including a champagne breakfast in the veld. Accommodation: Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge including meals & drinks Activities: Both in the morning and afternoon you can choose to join a guided walk, quad biking or a nature drive. An optional extra is the ballooning over the dunes in the Namib Desert. |
| 4 Windhoek | After a leisurely breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip and flown back to Windhoek where the trip ends. |
