Introduction: The tiny fat mouse (Steatomys parvus) is the smallest of Namibia's 3 fat mice, and has with the other two species, also retains the an accumulation of fat under the skin. It prefers a drier habitat to that of the fat mouse and occurs on sandy soil. They are nocturnal creatures and live either singly or in pairs.
Distribution: Caprivi Strip area of Namibia.
Diet: Grass seeds and other vegetable matter.
Colouring: Shades of dark rusty-brown.
Breeding: Litters average 3 per female.
Size: Head and body length 76mm. Tail 40mm. Weight: 15g.
